Image Compressor · Last updated 23 September 2026
Image Compressor runs entirely on your iPhone. Your photos are never uploaded, there is no account, and the app does not collect any data about you.
This describes the app as shipped. If a future version changes any of it, this page and its date change first.
Your photos
You choose a photo through the iPhone's system picker or the Files picker, so the app only ever receives the photo you pick. Picking needs no photo library permission. Compression runs on the phone. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else.
Compressed copies are kept inside the app, on your device, for the window you choose in Settings: 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, or Keep forever. The default is 7 days. The app also keeps a small record of each compression and a temporary copy of each import; the temporary copies are cleared up at launch once they are an hour old.
Saving a copy to Photos uses add-only permission: the app can add a photo to your library but cannot browse or read it. Your original photo is never modified or deleted. Every file the app produces has its location and camera details removed, and the app writes a new file rather than changing the one you picked.
What the app stores is on the device: the finished files and small thumbnails of them, the record of each compression (the source's name, size, pixel size, type and a SHA-256 hash, and what was produced), and the count of free photos you have used. The free-photo count is kept as SHA-256 hashes of the source files in the Keychain shared with the share-sheet action. A hash is not the photo and cannot be turned back into it. Nothing leaves your device unless you save or share a file yourself.
The compressed copies and the temporary imports are marked to stay out of iCloud and computer backups. The app's own record of past compressions is a small file that can be included in a backup you control through iOS settings. Apple runs those backups, not us.
Purchases
The one-time unlock is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment and your Apple Account. The app reads from StoreKit whether the purchase exists each time it needs to, and keeps no purchase flag of its own. We do not receive your name, payment details or purchase history.
Analytics and tracking
There are none. The app contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no third-party code, and it makes no network connections of its own. It does not track you across other apps or websites. In App Store terms, this app collects no data.
This website
These pages are static and set no cookies. The company that hosts them may keep standard server logs, such as the IP address and browser of each request, for as long as it needs to serve and protect the site.
Your choices
Delete a compressed copy from the app to remove it from your device, or shorten the window in Settings. Turn off the app's Photos permission in iOS Settings at any time. Deleting the app removes its kept copies and its record of past compressions. The free-photo count lives in the Keychain and survives a reinstall, and the purchase belongs to your Apple Account, where Restore Purchases brings it back.
